Dulverton Gardening Club Flower and Produce Show 2019

This year, the weather smiled on us on the day and we welcomed a steady stream of visitors to the afternoon. As usual, the beautifully presented vegetables and fruit, with astonishing lengths of parsnip tail, giant onions and huge tomatoes attracted lots of interest.

The Home Produce entries again brought compliments from the judge and were quickly snapped up at the auction. In spite of recent battering rain, the Flowers section had some wonderful blooms and Floral Art entries were delightful - “The Day at the Allotment” was very inventive.

There was ingenuity and quantity, too, in the Handicraft section, which brought encouraging comment from the judges. The Photography section again had some high quality entries and the rolling screen showing the digital pictures attracted great interest. The cafe area was kept busy with the usual excellent refreshments, some visitors opting to sit on the stage at tables.

The end of the afternoon brought the prize giving, by Ali Pegrum from Seddons, our sponsor, and the raffle. The Auction, always popular and, as usual, conducted briskly and entertainingly by Peter Huntley from Exmoor Farmers Livestock Auctions, ended the Show.
